We are excited to announce the first ever Aussie Vape Day to be held on Thursday 30 May 2019 (the day before World No Tobacco Day). Aussie Vape Day aims to educate adult smokers who can’t quit about vaping with encouragement to ‘give it a go’ as a much less harmful alternative to smoking.
The campaign is hosted by ATHRA, Legalise Vaping Australia and New Nicotine Alliance Australia and project-managed by a professional public relations agency.
The campaign will include a dedicated website, a launch event, specially produced videos, testimonials, social media infographics and mainstream media promotion, a flyer for beginners on how to switch and a handout on the common questions people ask
Are you willing to tell your story?
We are looking for about 12 vapers who are willing to tell their story on the campaign website. Personal stories are very powerful and can motivate other smokers to make the switch.
We can provide a free nicotine prescription for all participants so there is no legal risk involved.
If you would like to participate, please send us the following information
- Your age
- What do you do? Work? Pension?
- Where you live (Suburb, city)
- Mobile and email
- A photo
Please also send your story, perhaps 200-300 words (we will edit). Details could include
- Age started smoking
- Heaviness of smoking
- Health conditions from smoking
- Other medical conditions
- Other smoking treatments you tried and failed
- Why you switched? smoking-related disease; family reasons
- Benefits and changes you have noticed since switching. How has switching changed your life?
- What you are using now?
- Advice for other smokers
Only send details that you are happy to be published.
Are you willing to assist with media? This is optional. Which ones are you willing to do? Newspaper, radio, interview? Please let us know.
Video testimonials
We also need two vapers in Sydney willing to have a short professional video recorded of their vaping story, to go on the campaign website. These will be similar to the videos in our switch2vaping campaign by Dianne and Michael.
Doctors who prescribe nicotine
Do you know of any doctors who prescribe nicotine for vaping? We are preparing a list for smokers who want a nicotine prescription. A script is currently required to vape legally, although ATHRA is campaigning for this to be changed.
We need to know the doctor's name, phone number, full practice address and email address. We will contact all doctors and confirm their willingness to participate. Please email us the details.
Fundraising: please help
We have set up a GoFundMe page specifically to fund the campaign and we need your support! Donations of any size are appreciated and all donations over $2 are tax-deductible. Please give generously as this campaign will save lives. We do not accept donations directly from vape businesses but all personal donations are welcome.
Supporters can also purchase an Entertainment Book here to raise funds for the campaign. The book costs about $70 and provides over $20,000 of potential savings.
We will be in touch later with further information.
Thank you for your support.
